KLRU to Discuss Successful Online Pledge Drive Powered By Kimbia

Austin’s public broadcasting station, KLRU, will participate in a free webinar about its successful transition from traditional on-air pledge drives to an innovative online giving campaign, #YourKLRU

AUSTIN, Texas (October 12, 2015) — KLRU-TV, Austin’s public broadcasting station (PBS), is driven by its mission is to enrich the lives of viewers through quality public television programming, community services and public events. Responding to viewer feedback, KLRU PBS, made the leap from traditional on-air pledge drives to an online giving campaign. As a nonprofit organization with a strong community following, they took a calculated risk – and it paid off. This live webinar, Nonprofit Peer-to-Peer Success Story: KLRU Makes The Leap to Online Pledge Drives, will be held on October 20 at 1pm CT.yourklruscreenshot

In partnership with Kimbia, the leader in online fundraising and crowdfunding events, KLRU’s membership director, Susannah Winslow, will discuss how the organization combined the power of a crowdfunding event with peer-to-peer (P2P), email and social campaigns to achieve stellar results including:

  • Exceeding original fundraising goal by nearly 90%
  • Raising 14% of drive revenue from peer-to-peer fundraisers
  • Acquiring 28% new donors

Attendees will learn how KLRU leveraged Kimbia’s robust and innovative platform and proven set of best practices to develop a comprehensive campaign that surpassed all set goals. Additionally, Winslow will review campaign insights including how P2P and social media work together to create optimal results and how the online campaign yielded higher net revenue and donor retention than the average on-air pledge drive while still resonating with their core donor base of 60+.

An existing Kimbia customer, KLRU has used the versatile fundraising platform since 2007 for their year-round giving campaigns, and knew that it also offered a crowdfunding and peer-to-peer solution. As a result, the organization turned to Kimbia when it knew it needed an innovative partner in delivering a new format for its fundraising efforts.

“Without Kimbia, we wouldn’t have been able to produce our first crowdfunding event as seamlessly,” said Winslow. “They set us up for success by providing the tools, strategy and base support we needed to get started.”
